From October 27 to 30, the mon ami cinema in Weimar hosted the International Film and Art Festival Return for the second time, supported by the City of Weimar and the Thuringian State Chancellery, among others.
Filmmakers from over 85 countries took part in the festival. As part of the examination of the festival's question "What is home?" 32 films were selected and presented during the festival days.
In addition to an exciting international film programme with contributions to the question "What is home?", two workshops on film analysis and film production were also offered from 24-26 October, which took place in cooperation with the ACC Gallery and the Film Initiative of the Bauhaus University Weimar as well as the Nivre Film Studio GmbH.
The workshops were led by filmmaker Christian Koch, photographer and animator Tina Wagner and filmmaker Stefan Nacke. In addition, a special exhibition showed a selection of works from the fields of photography, illustration and drawing that were created in recent years under the question "What legacy do we leave for the future".
The works were on display at the mon ami cinema in Weimar from 24 October, for one month. On 30 October, the award ceremony with live music took place at the mon ami cinema. The winners in the fields of animation, feature film and documentary film were chosen and the results of the workshops were presented. Our team is currently preparing this year's festival, which will take place in October 2023 under the question "Freedom - what is it good for? We are looking forward to an exciting festival week with you!
