Director Statement

"We started to produce the Culture vs war project in Ukraine in May, 2022. As lots of our friends - Ukrainian creators, regardless of their age and health conditions, went to defend our country.  We decided to start documenting the evidence and stories of the great Ukrainian artists who left their successful careers to defend our country.  Kostiantyn and Vlada Liberov are the heroes of one of 7 documentaries of the project Culture vs war. They are a couple of military photographers, whose pictures were and are published by the biggest international media. Which attracts the attention to the war Russia against Ukraine, the war crimes of the Russian army, the powerful stories of Ukrainian defenders and civilians. Liberov couple are working in the hottest points of the front line. They are as well the authors of the exhibition and the Art-book of the project. DOP of the documentary Yuriy Gruzinov is defending the country and in the same documenting the war crimes. Being the great cinematographer, he is not only gathering the evidence of the war crimes, his shots are real masterpieces, which is making a big difference with most of the war documentaries. Powerful scary beauty of his shots deeply touches minds and souls all around the world. This statement and the positive consequences of our project we would like to dedicate to innumerable quantities of our talented colleagues creators who are sacrificing their lives for our common freedom.
